Beach Hut Beads

Beach Hut Beads

Half Term is now over and the Children are back at School!  More time to clay!!!

We had a quiet week, maybe a little too quiet....Logan was excited to be going back to school today!  That has to be a first!

So, after a somewhat frustrating Sunday, one of those days when I have time to experiment, time to play.......nothing would happen.  I spent about 2 hours just staring into space waiting for my fickle muse to come up with something and then gave it up as a bad job and had a long hot soak in the tub instead (a chilled glass of white wine helped of course!).

And then today, just when I was getting no ideas yet again, lo and behold, muse decided to put in an appearance - I am so glad she did!!

Beach Hut Beads!  I had so much fun making these.  They are only tiny, but full of detail from the textured roofs, to the tiny, tiny windows made from slices of a cane.  There is even a little door knob!
Detail

I antiqued them with a mix of brown and white acrylic paint, sanded most of the paint off to give an aged look and feel and then sealed them with Renaissance Wax and gently buffed them.

I hope you like them as much as I do.  They are up in my Etsy Shop now if you want a closer look.

A Hamlet of Beach Huts!
A Little Bit of Sunshine!
I was going to put up individual listings for each of the four colours, but thought that it might be better to do one listing and let people choose their colour when they order.  I would love some feedback on this.  Which way would you rather see?  Individual Listings or to choose your colour as you order?

Thanks so much!  Hope the start to your week is as good as mine as been!

Pippa,
These little beach huts are so adorable and I think they would look great on a charm bracelet with other beach related item. Oh I can not remeber if I told you but I received the little flower beads and they are so pretty. Can not wait to get my little elephants too.

OK, those are the most precious thing ever. Seriously!

I've never ordered from Etsy before, so I'm not sure. One thing that would be cool, though, is to offer a set of all of the colors for sale. I always have a hard time choosing a color, so one of each is my preferred way to go. :)

These have got to be the cutest little houses ever! I've been meaning to make some little cottage beads, but they will not be this cute, I'm sure. I love the round-y edges. :-)

Thank you so much Fiona! Actually this is one of the few occasions I have used the Renaissance Wax, and it does give a lovely shine, but I used it this time because I wanted to seal the acrylic paint. Normally I sand using Micro mesh, 10 different grits per bead, and then I buff and polish! I hate sanding lol!!!

Those are ADORABLE! Gods..I see little earrings... charm bracelets... the possibilities for fun are endless :)

As for which type of listing, stick with the single listing with the choice option for now and see how it goes. you can always change later :)

Hi Pippa. These little houses are adorable. What a nice twist you have given them with their little rounded edges. So cute.

I love the beads I recently won, the bronze ones and the blue beads that I purchased too. I'm working on something with the blue ones.

So happy that I found you work, your blog and your store!

OMG, these are cute creations, you should make it bigger, big enough to be used as a bird house.

Pippa, I think you've been getting the feed back you wanted and then some. Congratulations for the spot on Polymer Clay Daily, now you'll have to make a village of beach cottages. They're darling, your muse didn't let you down. Alice

Your little beach huts are just precious and so appealing! Congratulations on your well deserved PCD feature. I think selling as an individual specific color listing always seems to work best for me, because customers often forget to choose which color they want and then I have to try to get back in touch with them. Saturdays Sequins suggestion of also offering them in sets is a great idea.
